Danse Teko à Kayodé

Les 5 et 6 août prochains auront lieu les 1ers échanges interculturels entre les teko de l’est et ceux de l’ouest. L’association Akanta et le groupe de danse Teko Makan de Camopi organisent une représentation de la danse teko traditionnelle : Tadzau au village teko de Kayodé sur le Haut-Maroni.

Objectif principal : promouvoir la danse traditionnelle, tisser des liens intergénérationnels et proposer un échange culturel au sein de la communauté Teko de Camopi sur l’Oyapock et de Kayodé (Commune de Maripasoula) sur le Haut-Maroni, au travers de la danse.

Le groupe de danseurs Teko Makan de Camopi a pu ainsi mettre sur pied des ateliers pour la préparation et la transmission d’un grand nombre de savoirs autour de la danse à Camopi :

- Confection des habits traditionnels (homme et femme)
- Pas de danse
- Fabrication des instruments de musique
- Fabrication de tulé

Dans le cas du peuple Teko, la pratique culturelle de la danse a connu de grands changements mais elle est toujours pratiquée avec les nouvelles générations. C'est grâce à cette pratique toujours d'actualité auprès des nouvelles générations que la danse continue à être un marqueur primordial de l’identité teko.

A travers cet échange entre teko de l’est et l’ouest, c’est aussi permettre une transmission intercommunautaire et un rapprochement culturel entre un même groupe séparé géographiquement entre deux bassins de vie. C’est aussi réaffirmer l’identité teko en Guyane (un groupe unique en Amérique du sud et qui a failli disparaître durant la 1ère moitié du XXème siècle).

Teko dance in Kayode

On August 5 and 6, the first intercultural exchanges will take place between the teko of the east and those of the west. The Akanta association and the Teko Makan dance group from Camopi organize a performance of the traditional teko dance: Tadzau in the teko village of Kayodé on the Haut-Maroni.

Main objective: to promote traditional dance, forge intergenerational links and offer a cultural exchange within the Teko community of Camopi on the Oyapock and Kayodé (Commune of Maripasoula) on the Haut-Maroni, through dance.

The group of Teko Makan dancers from Camopi was thus able to set up workshops for the preparation and transmission of a large amount of knowledge around dance in Camopi:

- Making traditional clothes (men and women)
- No dancing
- Manufacture of musical instruments
- Manufacture of tule

In the case of the Teko people, the cultural practice of dancing has undergone great changes but it is still practiced with new generations. It is thanks to this practice, still relevant to new generations, that dance continues to be a key marker of teko identity.

Through this exchange between teko from the east and the west, it is also to allow inter-community transmission and cultural rapprochement between the same group separated geographically between two areas of life. It is also to reaffirm the teko identity in French Guyana (a unique group in South America and which almost disappeared during the first half of the 20th century).
