Démontage de l'ESCRIM en Guyane

L’ESCRIM est un hôpital médico-chirugical de campagne, aérotransportable et projetable en 12h sur le terrain d’une catastrophe ou d’une situation sanitaire exceptionnelle partout dans le monde. La structure est armée par l’Unité d’instruction et d’intervention de la Sécurité civile (Uiisc7) de Brignoles (Var) et le SDIS du Gard. Le dernier déploiement de l’ESCRIM datait de décembre 2017 en Guadeloupe, suite à l’incendie du CHU de Pointe-à-Pitre.

Déployé le 28 juin au Centre hospitalier de Cayenne, cet élément de sécurité civile rapide d’intervention médicalisée avait pour mission d’accueillir des patients non-COVID afin de libérer des capacités hospitalières au centre hospitalier de Cayenne, notamment pour les urgences du CHC, très sollicitées en raison de l’épidémie de coronavirus.

Au total, depuis son arrivée, ce sont 404 personnes qui ont été prises en charge à l’ESCRIM et 289 patients qui ont été soignés pour différents types de pathologies (traumatologie bénigne, digestive, cardiologie, pédiatrie, psychiatrie, dermatologie, pneumologie, neurologie...).

En moyenne, l’ESCRIM a pu absorber 20% de la charge de travail des urgences, avec un pic à 33%. En récupérant une partie du flux entrant, il a permis à l'hôpital de conserver de bonnes capacités d’accueil. Cette aide précieuse a donné un souffle important aux soignants qui ont pu se consacrer davantage aux patients plus graves ou bien à ceux présentant des symptômes liés au coronavirus.

Depuis la mi-juillet, la tendance épidémique est à la baisse et les urgences du CHC ont progressivement retrouvé leur équilibre.

Dans ce contexte, la fréquentation de l’unité a également diminué et plus aucun patient n’a été accueilli depuis le 24 juillet à 20h. L’ensemble du flux est désormais pris en charge par le service des urgences de l’hôpital.

C’est pourquoi, en accord avec l’Agence Régionale de Santé, le Centre Hospitalier de Cayenne et le SAMU, le reconditionnement du matériel a commencé et le démontage de la structure aura lieu à partir du mardi 28 juillet pour un départ prévu le mercredi 29 juillet vers sa base de Brignoles dans le Var afin d'être reconditionné.

Si la situation l’exigeait, le déploiement des moyens adaptés serait à nouveau pris en considération.

The ESCRIM is a field medical and surgical hospital, air-transportable and projectable in 12 hours on the ground of a disaster or an exceptional health situation anywhere in the world. The structure is armed by the Civil Security Instruction and Intervention Unit (Uiisc7) of Brignoles (Var) and the SDIS of Gard. The last deployment of ESCRIM was in December 2017 in Guadeloupe, following the fire at the Pointe-à-Pitre University Hospital.

Deployed on June 28 at the Cayenne Hospital Center, this rapid emergency medical intervention element was intended to accommodate non-COVID patients in order to free up hospital capacity at the Cayenne hospital center, in particular for CHC emergencies, in high demand due to the coronavirus epidemic.

In total, since his arrival, 404 people have been treated at ESCRIM and 289 patients who have been treated for various types of pathologies (benign trauma, digestive, cardiology, pediatrics, psychiatry, dermatology, pneumology, neurology ...).

On average, ESCRIM was able to absorb 20% of the emergency workload, with a peak of 33%. By recovering part of the incoming flow, it enabled the hospital to maintain good reception capacities. This invaluable help breathed new life into caregivers who were able to focus more on more serious patients or those with symptoms linked to the coronavirus.

Since mid-July, the epidemic trend has been decreasing and the CHC emergencies have gradually regained their balance.

In this context, the number of visits to the unit has also decreased and no more patients have been admitted since July 24 at 8 p.m. The entire flow is now handled by the hospital emergency department.

This is why, in agreement with the Regional Health Agency, the Cayenne Hospital Center and the SAMU, the reconditioning of the equipment has started and the dismantling of the structure will take place from Tuesday July 28 for a departure scheduled for Wednesday. July 29 to its base in Brignoles in the Var to be reconditioned.

If the situation so required, the deployment of the appropriate means would again be taken into consideration.
