Une pirogue contrôlée avec à son bord 14 étrangers en situation irrégulière

En patrouille à l’Est du territoire et dans le cadre de la lutte contre la pêche illégale (LCPI), la vedette « Mahury » de la gendarmerie maritime des forces armées en Guyane, guidée sur objectif par un hélicoptère Fennec alors en vol de surveillance, a procédé au contrôle d’une pirogue de 12 mètres de long, lourdement chargée, échouée sur la vase au niveau de la Fausse Montagne d’Argent.

Peu de temps après, 14 étrangers en situation irrégulière (ESI) de nationalité brésilienne, qui avaient fui dans la mangrove à l’approche des gendarmes maritimes, ont fini par se présenter à ces derniers et ont demandé à rentrer au Brésil.

À marée haute, la pirogue LOG a été déchargée du matériel (caisses et ballots de nourriture et de vêtements) qu’elle transportait, lequel a été saisi par les gendarmes maritimes et embarqué à bord de l’embarcation relève-filets (ERF) « Caouanne ».

Les 14 ESI ont été remorqués à bord de la pirogue, dont le moteur était hors service, par la vedette « Mahury » jusqu’à Saint-Georges de l’Oyapock où ils ont été remis à la police aux frontières (PAF).

La pirogue, également saisie, a été confiée à la base opérationnelle avancée (BOA) de Saint-Georges, tenue par les légionnaires du 3ème REI, avant d’être ramenée ultérieurement à Cayenne par la route, permettant à la vedette « Mahury » de reprendre sa mission de police des pêches.

La nature des biens saisis à bord de la pirogue (2 300 kg de nourriture, de vêtements et de cosmétiques, plusieurs dizaines de cartouches de cigarettes et 150 litres d’essence) ne laisse que peu de doute quant au lien avec l’orpaillage illégal dont la pirogue assurait probablement le soutien logistique. Une enquête est en cours, conduite par la brigade de gendarmerie maritime de Cayenne.

Cette opération conduite sous l’autorité du préfet, délégué pour l’action de l’État en mer en Guyane, est particulièrement révélatrice de la capacité des moyens de la composante maritime des Forces Armées en Guyane à travailler en inter-administration (avec le Parquet du tribunal judiciaire de Cayenne et la police aux frontières), mais également en inter-armées, avec le concours des composantes aériennes et terrestres des FAG.

Ainsi, elle est particulièrement symptomatique de la volonté des services de l’État de collaborer étroitement sous l’autorité du préfet, pour lutter contre tous les trafics et faire valoir en tout temps et en tout lieu de la souveraineté de la France dans son espace maritime.

The 14 ESI were towed aboard the canoe, with the engine out of service, by the speedboat "Mahury" to Saint-Georges de Oyapock where they were handed over to the border police (PAF).

The canoe, also seized, was entrusted to the forward operational base (BOA) of Saint-Georges, held by the legionaries of the 3rd REI, before being subsequently brought back to Cayenne by road, allowing the launch "Mahury" to resume its mission of fisheries policing.

The nature of the goods seized on board the canoe (2,300 kg of food, clothing and cosmetics, several dozen cartridges of cigarettes and 150 liters of gasoline) leaves little doubt as to the link with illegal gold panning. whose canoe probably provided logistical support. An investigation is underway, led by the Cayenne maritime gendarmerie brigade.

This operation, carried out under the authority of the prefect, delegate for State action at sea in Guyana, is particularly revealing of the capacity of the means of the maritime component of the Armed Forces in French Guiana to work in inter-administration (with the Prosecutor's Office of the Cayenne Judicial Court and the border police), but also in inter-armed forces, with the assistance of the air and land components of the FAG.

Thus, it is particularly symptomatic of the will of the State services to collaborate closely under the authority of the prefect, to fight against all trafficking and to assert at all times and in all places the sovereignty of France in its space. maritime.
