Retour sur l'action des rebelles d'Extinction Rebellion Guyane

Ce samedi 12 juin, les rebelles d'Extinction Rebellion Guyane, en soutien à la lutte juridique menée par Or de Question pour l'interdiction de l'utilisation du cyanure en Guyane, ont décidé d'interpeller sur les ronds points d'accès à l'île de Cayenne, en utilisant les symboles forts pour dire la vérité concernant l'usage du cyanure.

Les discours politiques (d'ici et d'ailleurs) pointent tous un immense problème en Guyane : l'orpaillage illégal et la pollution au mercure, tout en autorisant le cyanure pour l'exploitation légale ! Mercure, cyanure, même combat.

Des rebelles ont rapporté que les messages présents sur 2 sculptures, fortes de sens pour la Guyane (le Chamane sur le rond point Califourchon, hommage aux peuples amérindiens de Guyane et la statue de Galmot explorateur, chercheur d'or, bienveillant et adoré au point que son éviction politique a déclenché une révolte) ont été très rapidement enlevés !

Les messages du Chamane étaient : Cyanure fatal ! Cyanure légal ? Et une cape ornée son dos : Cyanure= extinction, Guyane= Rébellion.

Extinction Rebellion est un mouvement international. Il s’agit d’un collectif de citoyen.enne.s apolitique, non-violent, luttant pour un changement radical de nos sociétés afin de stopper l’écocide en cours. Nous exigeons, entre autre, la reconnaissance de la gravité de l’urgence climatique et l’arrêt immédiat de la destruction de nos écosystèmes, à l’origine de la 6ème extinction de masse en cours.

This Saturday, June 12, the rebels of Extinction Rebellion French Guiana, in support of the legal fight led by Or de Question for the ban on the use of cyanide in French Guiana, decided to call on the roundabouts of access to Cayenne, using strong symbols to tell the truth about the use of cyanide.

Political speeches (from here and elsewhere) all point to a huge problem in French Guiana: illegal gold panning and mercury pollution, while authorizing cyanide for legal exploitation! Mercury, cyanide, same fight.

Rebels reported that the messages present on 2 sculptures, strong of meaning for French Guiana (the Shaman on the Califourchon roundabout, homage to the Amerindian peoples of French Guiana and the statue of Galmot explorer, gold digger, benevolent and adored to the point that his political eviction sparked a revolt) were very quickly removed!

The Shaman's messages were: Fatal cyanide! Legal cyanide? And a cape adorned his back: Cyanure = extinction, French Guiana = Rebellion.

Who are we ?

Extinction Rebellion is an international movement. It is a collective of non-political, non-violent citizens, fighting for a radical change in our societies in order to stop the ongoing ecocide. We demand, among other things, the recognition of the gravity of the climate emergency and the immediate end of the destruction of our ecosystems, which is the source of the 6th mass extinction in progress.
