La CTG signe un accord de partenariat d’étude avec FLYING WHALES

Pour la première fois, une étude complète va être menée à l’échelle d’une Région pour anticiper le déploiement du LCA60T, solution inédite de transport cargo par dirigeable.

FLYING WHALES, société française à l’origine du grand programme industriel LCA60T destiné au transport de charges lourdes, entame une collaboration avec la Collectivité Territoriale de Guyane afin d’étudier le déploiement et l’utilisation du transport par dirigeable sur le territoire guyanais. Cette solution innovante de transport aérien permettra de désenclaver certaines régions présentant un déficit d’infrastructures de transport.

Grâce à son gabarit de 200 m de long sur 50 m de diamètre et de sa soute longue de 96 m, le dirigeable LCA60T pourra charger et décharger en vol stationnaire jusqu’à 60 tonnes de marchandises, matériel ou matériaux dans les zones isolées concernées. Ce dirigeable à propulsion hybride - et bientôt entièrement électrique grâce à une pile à combustible - aura une faible empreinte environnementale (jusqu’à 30 fois moins d’énergie consommée qu’un hélicoptère par rapport au poids transporté), couplée à un faible coût d'exploitation en comparaison des solutions existantes et du fait de la suppression des infrastructures de transport.

Le transport par dirigeable présente pour la Guyane une réelle opportunité tant sur le plan économique qu’environnemental. A titre d’exemple, pour la filière bois, il permet d’éviter la création et l’entretien, tous deux extrêmement couteux, de pistes forestières primaires et secondaires, ce qui aura un impact positif sur la compétitivité de la filière et sur l’impact environnemental de ses activités également. Autre exemple sur le volet environnemental, la possibilité de collecte de déchets ménagers par le LCA60T depuis les zones isolées sera étudiée.

Le transport actuel par pirogue pose en effet des problèmes logistiques et sanitaires importants.

Son déploiement permettra de répondre ainsi aux enjeux de développement du territoire et aux besoins de multiples autres secteurs d’activité (énergie, construction, aide humanitaire, spatial, santé...).

Cette étude, menée sur une durée de 3 ans, prendra en compte tous les aspects de l’implantation de ce moyen de transport prometteur en Guyane. Les sujets sociaux, environnementaux, d’autorisations administratives et d’opérations seront étudiés avec les acteurs locaux concernés.

Au-delà des effets bénéfiques sur l’emploi, le rayonnement de la Guyane sur l’ensemble de l’Amazonie sera ainsi mis en avant. Cela répond à une ambition de faire de la Guyane une terre d’excellence pour les technologies d’avenir.

For the first time, a complete study will be carried out at the level of a Region to anticipate the deployment of the LCA60T, a unique airship cargo transport solution.

FLYING WHALES, the French company behind the large LCA60T industrial program intended for the transport of heavy loads, is starting a collaboration with the Territorial Collectivity of French Guyana to study the deployment and use of airship transport in French Guiana. This innovative air transport solution will make it possible to open up certain regions with a lack of transport infrastructure.

Thanks to its template 200 m long by 50 m in diameter and its 96 m long cargo bay, the LCA60T airship will be able to hover and load up to 60 tonnes of goods, equipment or materials in the isolated areas concerned. This hybrid propulsion airship - and soon entirely electric thanks to a fuel cell - will have a low environmental footprint (up to 30 times less energy consumed than a helicopter in relation to the weight transported), coupled with a low cost of 'operation in comparison with existing solutions and due to the elimination of transport infrastructure.

Airship transport presents French Guiana with a real opportunity both economically and environmentally. For example, for the timber sector, it avoids the creation and maintenance, both extremely expensive, of primary and secondary forest tracks, which will have a positive impact on the competitiveness of the sector and on the environmental impact of its activities as well. Another example on the environmental side, the possibility of collecting household waste by the LCA60T from isolated areas will be studied.

The current transport by canoe indeed poses significant logistical and health problems.

Its deployment will thus make it possible to meet the challenges of regional development and the needs of many other sectors of activity (energy, construction, humanitarian aid, space, health, etc.).
