Après le démontage des carbets illégaux de Saut Parasol, place aux inventaires naturalistes

Le Parc amazonien a définitivement effacé les traces d’un projet touristique un peu fou, mais totalement illégal, des années 2000. Des carbets touristiques avaient été construits sans autorisation à Saut Parasol, sur le Haut-Sinnamary.

Suite à des échanges avec le Parc amazonien et la préfecture, un arrêté de péril ordinaire a été pris par la mairie de Saint-Élie le 20 mai pour autoriser le Parc à « effectuer les travaux de démolition des structures construites illégalement à Saut-Parasol ». Des carbets touristiques de 160 m² avaient en effet été illégalement construits au début des années 2000.

Après une première mission sur site pour évaluer l’ampleur des travaux de démolition et d’évacuation à prévoir, quatre agents du Parc amazonien ont à nouveau été déposés du 4 au 8 octobre derniers afin de détruire les installations. Tous les déchets ont été réunis pour être évacués, puis le feu a été mis aux carbets vétustes. Une quantité très impressionnante de carrelage (130 m²), mais aussi une fosse septique, ont notamment été extraites ! Trois rotations d’hélicoptère ont été nécessaires pour ramener les déchets jusqu’à Cayenne où ils seront traités. Le coût de l’opération a été pris en charge par le Plan de relance.

Les naturalistes prennent le relais
Après le démontage des carbets, une équipe de naturalistes a pris le relais sur le site pour réaliser des inventaires. Sébastien Sant, accompagné de Rémi Girault, a mené des prospections botaniques, l’ornithologue Sylvain Uriot (association Gepog) a réalisé des inventaires des oiseaux, chiroptères et odonates, tandis que Magali Portal et Xavier Bloda (association Cerato) ont observé les reptiles et amphibiens…

The Amazonian Park has definitively erased the traces of a somewhat crazy, but totally illegal, tourist project of the 2000s. Tourist huts had been built without authorization at Saut Parasol, on the Haut-Sinnamary.

Following discussions with the Amazonian Park and the prefecture, an ordinary peril decree was issued by the town hall of Saint-Élie on May 20 to authorize the Park to "carry out demolition work on structures illegally built in Saut-Parasol" . 160 m² tourist huts had in fact been illegally built in the early 2000s.

After a first site visit to assess the extent of the demolition and evacuation work to be planned, four agents from the Amazonian Park were again dropped off from October 4 to 8 to destroy the facilities. All the waste was gathered to be evacuated, then the fire was set in the dilapidated carbets. A very impressive quantity of tiling (130 m²), but also a septic tank, were notably extracted! Three helicopter rotations were necessary to bring the waste back to Cayenne where it will be processed. The cost of the operation was covered by the recovery plan.

Naturalists take over
After dismantling the carbets, a team of naturalists took over on the site to carry out inventories. Sébastien Sant, accompanied by Rémi Girault, conducted botanical surveys, ornithologist Sylvain Uriot (Gepog association) carried out inventories of birds, bats and odonata, while Magali Portal and Xavier Bloda (Cerato association) observed reptiles and amphibians ...
