Actes de braconnage sur la Crique Yaroupi

Le 11 mai dernier, une mission de lutte anti-braconnage a été menée par des agents du Parc amazonien de Guyane sur la crique Yaroupi (fleuve affluent de l’Oyapock).

Cette mission a notamment permis la saisie de gibiers et de poissons ainsi que la confiscation de la pirogue et du moteur ayant servi à l’infraction.

En effet, sur la crique Yaroupi, en zone cœur du parc national, l’équipe a surpris deux brésiliens qui étaient en train de dépecer du gibier. Sur le campement se trouvait 225 kg de gibiers et de poissons.

Pour ce délit, les deux chasseurs brésiliens allaient être placés en garde à vue à Camopi. La peine encourue est de 4 ans d’emprisonnement et 60 000 € d’amende.

Lors du passage du saut Koumalawa, où la passe oblige à longer la rive brésilienne, les deux individus ont sauté à l’eau et ont rejoint la rive brésilienne. Leur pirogue et leur moteur ont été saisis.

Ce groupe de chasseurs est connu pour se livrer à ce type de pillage sur la crique Yaroupi, dans la zone de vie des amérindiens wayãpi. Depuis plusieurs semaines, des habitants avaient dénoncé leurs agissements.

Leur identité a été signalée auprès de la gendarmerie qui se chargera de transmettre à la police fédérale brésilienne, afin qu’ils soient poursuivis.

On May 11, an anti-poaching mission was carried out by agents of the Amazonian Park of French Guiana on the Yaroupi creek (river tributary of the Oyapock).

This mission notably led to the seizure of game and fish as well as the confiscation of the canoe and the engine used in the offence.

Indeed, on Yaroupi creek, in the heart of the national park, the team surprised two Brazilians who were cutting up game. On the camp was 225 kg of game and fish.

For this offence, the two Brazilian hunters were going to be taken into custody in Camopi. The penalty is 4 years imprisonment and a fine of €60,000.

During the passage of the Koumalawa jump, where the pass requires you to walk along the Brazilian side, the two individuals jumped into the water and joined the Brazilian side. Their canoe and engine were seized.

This group of hunters is known to engage in this type of looting on the Yaroupi creek, in the living area of the Wayãpi Amerindians. For several weeks, residents had denounced their actions.

Their identity has been reported to the gendarmerie, which will forward it to the Brazilian federal police, so that they can be prosecuted.
