L’exposition Mémoire et oubli fera l’objet de présentations de peintures, dessins, photographies et textes. Une trentaine de personnes ont répondu à la question « Quels sont les mots, les phrases, les images qui évoquent pour vous votre enfance ? Que pensez-vous avoir oublié ? » Les réponses seront exposées.

Le travail plastique s’est articulé autour du questionnement de la trace mémorielle ou de l’oubli à partir des textes écrits par les interlocuteurs. Certaines réponses sont traitées sous forme de série, d’autres, ont fait l’objet de productions spécifiques uniques.

Peut-on prétendre fournir un compte rendu fiable des événements passés ?

Les questions en jeu concernent la mémoire, comme réappropriation du passé individuel ou collectif, mémoire que nos récits personnels, nos parcours de vie ont tracée et souvent transformée.

Plastiquement le champ des interprétations reste ouvert : répétition, flou, morcellement ou fragmentation, transformations d’images ou de fragments d’images, stylisation, matérialisation…

"Pour le dire autrement, l’image-souvenir est présente à l’esprit comme quelque chose qui n’est plus là mais qui y a été. L’empreinte ou la trace, toutes deux, sont pleinement présentes, mais par leur présence renvoient à la frappe du sceau ou à l’inscription initiale de la trace." Paul Ricoeur.

Ici la trace a cheminé vers l’interprétation d’un Autre qui altère inévitablement son authenticité, elle-même déjà bousculée. L’image sera signe de l’absence d’une mémoire qui cherche à retrouver un passé.

Les photographies de l’exposition elles, retracent une installation réalisée en 2017 à Kalawachi, autour d’une interprétation de la mémoire de la culture amérindienne.

Les deux dessins sont les projets d’une fresque qui avait pour but de rendre compte de la sédimentation spatio-temporelle dans Cayenne.

The exhibition Memory and oblivion will be the subject of presentations of paintings, drawings, photographs and texts. Thirty people answered the question "What are the words, the sentences, the images that evoke your childhood for you?" What do you think you forgot? The answers will be exposed.

The plastic work was structured around the questioning of the memory trace or forgetting from the texts written by the interlocutors. Some responses are treated as a series, others have been the subject of unique specific productions.

Can we claim to provide a reliable account of past events?

The questions at stake concern memory, as a reappropriation of the individual or collective past, memory that our personal stories, our life paths have traced and often transformed.

Plastically, the field of interpretation remains open: repetition, blurring, fragmentation or fragmentation, transformation of images or image fragments, stylization, materialization ...

"To put it another way, the memory image is present to the mind as something which is no longer there but which has been there. The imprint or the trace, both, are fully present, but by their presence refer to the striking of the seal or the initial recording of the trace. " Paul Ricoeur.

Here the trace has progressed towards the interpretation of an Other which inevitably alters its authenticity, itself already shaken up. The image will be a sign of the absence of a memory that seeks to find a past.

The photographs in the exhibition show an installation made in 2017 in Kalawachi, around an interpretation of the memory of Native American culture.

The two drawings are the projects of a fresco which aimed to give an account of the space-time sedimentation in Cayenne.
