Un groupe d’ouvrières casseuses de cailloux se rebelle pour la dignité d’un salaire décent. Dans cette alliance inopinée de femmes qui ne se seraient pas rencontrées si la contingence ne les avait jetées là et qui vont expérimenter ensemble la violence policière ordinaire, la figure de Méréana est mise en avant.

Tantôt Mère courage ou « ambianceuse », Lysistrata moderne ou mère célibataire au combat, Méréana entraîne à sa suite un joyeux cortège, teinté de musique et de résilience.

… mais c’est une autre qui y perdra la vie – Batatou.

A group of stone breakers rebel for the dignity of a living wage. In this unexpected alliance of women who would not have met if contingency had not thrown them there and who will experience ordinary police violence together, the figure of Méréana is highlighted.

Sometimes courageous or “ambient” mother, modern Lysistrata or single mother in combat, Méréana leads a joyous procession, tinged with music and resilience.
… but it is another who will lose her life there – Batatou.
